Even with meticulous maintenance, sludge build-up is inevitable. The best way to keep a CRD diesel engine running at peak performance is by using a Ryco Catch Can. A Catch Can will separate oil, hydrocarbons, soot, and condensation from the crankcase gasses, making the recirculated air cleaner.
Ryco Catch Cans filter out crankcase gases that create intake carbon build-up and contaminate a vehicle’s engine eventually causing power loss.
Ryco advises that after fitting a new Catch Can, drain the Catch Can Sump after 1000 kilometers of driving and measure the amount of oil that comes out. This will give you a better understanding of the engine's blow-by characteristics and a more exact idea of how often your Catch Can
Be sure to check sump levels every month or every 5000 kilometers, whichever comes first. If you’re towing or driving off-road, Ryco recommends checking the Catch Can daily.
The Ryco Catch Can also features an integrated relief valve that opens under excess crankcase pressure if the filter is blocked. The filtered crankcase ventilation gasses will now no longer deposit sludge in the intake, saving CRD engine owners expensive trips to the mechanic.
